New York City Max Schling Inc 1928 First Edition Small Boards 
A rare find. Lovely book published by a high end florist in New York City in 1928 (his shop was in the Savoy-Plaza) promoting his flower products and fancy arrangements. as gifts. There are 25 examples highlighted by nice color photographs and descriptions of the arrangements for every occasion, weddings, hospital visits, table decorations etc. There is also a price list at the back of the book and an acknowledgemnt card laid in that the customer received the book. The book may have bee insured with a dustjacket, the boards have a touch of wear and a small corner dent which is mirrored to the corners of the pages, however still a vg copy of a rare example of high end commerce in New York City right before the bust.

Very uncommon 31pg. pamphlet A Rosary Of Evil that was the "opening lecture at the meeting of the time enough poetry club" by Eli Siegel who was the founder and some would say cult leader of Aesthietic Realism "a philosophic way of seeing conflict in self and making this conflict clear to a person so that a person becomes more integrated and happier". The basis of Aesthetic Realism is the principle, "The world, art, and self explain each other: each is the aesthetic oneness of opposites". Aesthetic Realism was controversial for their negative ideas on homosexuality and followers of Aesthetic Realism took to wearing buttons stating that they were victims of the press because of all the negative press that was written about the group. They ran a theatre group and an art gallery and in 1978 because of illness Siegel took his own life. Siegel was also an educator and a poet. The lecture published here was one Siegel gave on poetry. Light wear. Vg.

THIS COPY BELONGED TO THE DIRECTOR ELIA KAZAN WHOSE OWNERSHIP SIGNATURE AND DATE IS ON THE TOP EDGE OF THE FRONT ENDSHEET. The book was being considered by Kazan as a film project is filled with his handwritten notes and ideas on how he would make the film and what parts of the book were of interest to him. Unfortunately the film was never made. There is a touch of staining to a few pages of the book, along with minor light wear and shaking. Also lacking the dustjacket. This was a well read and handled book by the director. Vg.
