Schwedler Paintings Drawings, Schwedler, William
349 Schwedler, William Schwedler Paintings Drawings
New York City Andrew Crispo Gallery 1975 First Edition Oblong Paper
40pg. catalog of the late painters work includes 8 color reproductions along with many black and white reproductions of Schwedler's paintings and drawings along with a foreword by Andrew Crispo and a short essay by E.John Bullard. Laid in are several pages of material from a memorial exhibition for him that was held at the Tibor DeNagy Gallery in 1983 along with a nice small color fold over announcement for the show. Also laid in is a copy of an article on his work by Burr Wallen that was published in the old Arts Magazine. Of morbid note is that this is the Andrew Crispo who in 1985 was involved in the grisly torture and murder of a young F.I.T. student that raised the roof on the New York art world. Although he was never charged in the murder and walked away a free man in the case, he did later go to jail for tax evasion. There is a damp stain to the top corner of the front of the catalog which has gone through to the verso of the cover and caused a small stain to the title pg. the supplemental papers have taken the brunt of the staining and saved the interior of the catalog from more damage with the interior being free of the staining. Condition noted and being sold as is. Scarce.
