INSCRIBED, SIGNED AND DATED BY JAMES WELDON JOHNSON. A very rare 2 volume collection of Negro Spirituals that were edited by Johnson. Each vol. contains 61 spirituals. Vol. a 2nd printing and has been signed by Johnson in 1936. Bookplate on pastedown. The 2nd vol. is a first printing and was also inscribed and signed by Johnson in 1936 and also has a bookplate on the pastedown. Johnson was an important figure in the Harlem Renaissance and was also a lyricist, poet, teacher, lawyer and was also an influential Civl Rights activist. Postcard of a stamp honoring Johnson laid in. Lacking the dustjackets. Very minute wear tot he edges of the covers and light soiling to the top edges, otherwise these are nice clean copies and uncommon to find them inscribed. Sold as a collection only.

An original short typed and signed letter dated April 25, 1967 from Lynda Bird Johnson thanking the sender for inviting her to speak before a student group at a community college in New York City. She turns down the request because of hectic spring schedule. On White House stationary and signed by the daughter of the former and troubled President Lyndon Baines Johnson. The signature is authetic and matches samples of her signature. vg. in its original mailing envelope.

Baraka has faced much controversary in recent years including serious charges of anti-Semitism. Some very minor soiling to the back panel of the white dustjacket. Fine/fine. Also included is a first paper edition of "Preface To A Twenty Volume Suicide Note. Published in 1961. This is a small paper with all the correct points, $1.25 price on cover and the list of Corinth book titles on the last page. Former owner's signature on title pg. and a narrow fold to one page that appears to have occured during the binding. The book is nice and clean. Sold as a collection only.

Small newspaper clipping laid in of Kanin's published small piece on Judy Holliday from the New York Times after her untimely death in 1965. . Small spot ot front edge. 1 photo on frontispiece. ALSO LAID IN IS A SMALL INSCRIBED AND SIGNED "WITH THE COMPLIMENTS OF CARD" THE FRONT HAS A SMALL ILLUSTRATION OF A HAND HOLDING A BOQUET OF FLOWERS WITH GARSON KANIN'S NAME PRINTED ON IT. Holliday made a big splash in the play and went on to repeat her role in the film version and won an Oscar.

SIGNED BY ORLANDO CEPEDA ON THE FRONT COVER. The first in a series of monographs on baseball greats. During a career that lasted sixteen years, Cepeda played with the San Francisco Giants (195866), St. Louis Cardinals (196668), Atlanta Braves (196972), Oakland Athletics (1972), Boston Red Sox (1973) and Kansas City Royals (1974). Cepeda would be selected to play in seven Major League Baseball All-Star Games during his career, becoming the first player from Puerto Rico to start one. In 1978, Cepeda was sentenced to five years in prison on drug possession charges, of which he would serve ten months in prison and the rest on probation. In 1987, Cepeda would be contracted by the San Francisco Giants to work as a scout and "goodwill ambassador". In 1999, Cepeda was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame by the Veterans Committee. Includes text and many photos. Near fine.

The kit consists of a three gated large illustrated b&w folder that has been inscribed and signed by Kelly. Within the folder is a calling card, along with 10 pages of career info. and material on many of his perfomance pieces which include notes, credits & critical blurbs. Each page is also illustrated with perfomrance photos. Also set in the folder but not called for are theatre programs for three of his performance pieces with ticket stubs laid in, and a copy of Poz Magazine which is a magazine for people with HIV. Kelly is pictured on the cover, and inside is a long article on him with many photos. Also laid in is a small recent card for a series shows that he did at Joe's Pub. Small split to one of the folds of the folder has been mended with acid free tape. Fine.

The printed signature of Mr. Scorsese's on the endsheet is usually mistaken as a real signature, it is not. This is a fine I would say pristine copy and very rare to find it signed by him.
