Laurent's romantic novel later made into a very successful film that starred Barbra Streisand & Robert Redford. 1st ed. Binding is Also included is a hardcover copy in dustjacket for Laurent's novel "The Turning Point." This is the book club edition, and is the only hardcover edition published. The novel is based on his screenplay and is illustrated with 16pgs. of b&w stills from the popular and well received movie about the ballet world that received 11 Oscar nominations including one for the director of the film Herbert Ross. LAID IN THE BOOK IS A SMALL PIECE OF BLUE PAPER THAT HAS BEEN SIGNED BY HERBERT ROSS. Auction stamp on front pastedown, ink date written on the top edge of the endsheet, some minute creasing and chipping to the dustjacket and a few minor tiny creases to a few corners. Vg/vg. Also included is a Book Club Edition of "The Time Of The Cuckoo" Arthur Laurent's comedy about a spinster traveling in Venice, and finding romance. Published in 1953 by Random House this is a hardcover copy with dustjacket. The play starred Shirley Booth and was filmed in 1955 by David Lean with Katharine Hepburn starring. 1 interior photo + photo on the cloth. Some shallow chipping to the edge, and small pieces missing from the top of the back panel. Former owner's signature on pastedown, and light offsetting to the gutters due to glue. Fine/vg. Also included is a first day issue William Faulkner stamp on an envelope that has BEEN SIGNED IN INK BY ARTHUR LAURENTS. Also included is a copy of Theatre Arts Magazine from January 1962 which includes the complete play of Laurents's INVITATION TO A MARCH. Sold as a collection only

SIGNED BY NORMAN MAILER. IN ADDITION THERE IS A SMALL WHITE INDEX CARD WHICH MAILER HAS WRITTEN "NOBODY COULD SLEEP. CHEERS NORMAN MAILER. AND AT THE BOTTOM OF THE CARD HE HAS WRITTEN FIRST SENTENCE OF THE NAKED AND THE DEAD. Mailer's first novel, an epic work about World War II. This is a later printing, as it is lacking the Rinehart colophon on the copyright page. The dustjacket is also a later printing and includes critical blurbs on the flaps and includes the photo of a very young Mailer on the back panel. The dustjacket has a small bit chipping and is priced clipped. There is also a faint soft corner crease to the front endsheet which is lightly mirrored to a few of the first pages and the corner crease is also on the back endsheet and is mirrored to a few of last pages, which makes me think that this happend in the binding. A notoriously fragile book in vg+ condition. Vg+/vg+

Made into a striking film in 1964 that revived the career of Joseph Losey and was the first of his several collaborations with Harold Pinter who wrote the screenplay and the late great actor Dirk Bogarde who gave an outstanding performance as "The Servant." A few very tiny chips to the tips and the very top of the spine panel along with a few old tape stains on the verso of the front, back flaps and the back panel which have also lightly stained the pastedowns and the cloth. The wonderful dustjacket artwork is by G.N. Fish. Near fine/near fine.
