Nice catalog that was pub. in conj. with an exhibition of 5 paintings by Thomas Nast the leading political cartoonist and satirist of the 19th Century that were originally part of a series of 33 very large paintings that he did for an a theatrical event that consisted of the paintings in a moving parorama on a stage with an explantory lecture. The exhibition was given in New York and Boston to very favarable reviews but unfortunately the paintings disappeared into thin air until 1950 when the 5 paintings in the exhibition were found in a barn in New Jersey. Oh happy day. The catalog includes the 5 paintings in full color that are folded and when unfolded open to 15" x 19". Each painting includes notes along with an essay and 8 b&w in text illustration. Light soiling and a small corner crease to the white covers. Vg+
