1 Jean, Marcel & Mezei, Arpad Histoire De La Peinture Surrealiste (History of Surrealist Painting)
Paris Editions Du Seuil 1959 First French Edition Oversize cloth W. Die-cut Dj.
TEXT IN FRENCH. Wonderful magnificently illustrated history of one of the great art movements of the 20th Century and the many artists who contributed great works of art to it. All the usual suspects are included and the text is supplemented by 100's of b&w and color reproductions of paintings, drawings, sculptures, mixed media works, graphics, posters and more. The block cloth has three door illustrations that open and close and are mounted to the front cover. The unusal dustjacket also has die-cut doors that also open and close. The front and back endsheets and a few of the first and last pages have a slight wave to them, which appears to be typical for this book. Very minute wear to the dustjacket. Fine/near fine.
