1 Cook, Barbara 2 Rare Early Barbara Cook Playbills & Souvenir Program for Plain and Fancy
New York Playbill 1956 Original Programs Paper
Two original playbills from the early career of the legendary musical star Barbara Cook. The first one is an opening night playbill for the musical "Candide" that starred Cook in this operetta based on the Voltaire satire. The show had a book by Lillian Hellman and a score by Leonard Bernstein. The second playbill is from what is probably Ms. Cook's most famous show "The Music Man" for which she won a Tony award. The cover art is by Tony Walton. Both playbills are fine. Also included is a 20pg. souvenir program from another early Cook musical "Plain and Fancy" which is from later in the run. The program is illustrated with many photos of the young and slim Barbara Cook. Fine. Sold as a collection only.
