Disney Studios Living Desert, Vanishing Prairie, African Lion

A rare three volume set of the True-Life Adventure Series that were based on the Walt Disney live action documentaries produced in the mid 1950's. Living Desert won the Oscar in 1953 for documentary feature as did Vanishing Prairie the following year. Living Desert has text by several important writers including two entries by Albert Camus. Vanishing Prairie has a text by Louis Bromfield & African Lion's text is by James Algar. Each volume is profusely illustrated with wonderful full color tipped in plates. Three or four of the tops of the plates in Living Desert has narrow scrapes due to the glue, otherwise these copies are fine, and are extremely scarce especially in this condition. Sold only as a set.

Nice children's book that is illustrated with 10 beautiful full color plates along with many nice b&w illustrations. There is a small bookplate on endsheet, and there is overall light wear including 2 tiny margin tears, not affecting the artwork, and wear to the edges of the boards. The color illustrations are nice & clean, and considering that this once belonged to a child, a very nice copy.
