Williams, Tennessee & Shakespeare, William A Streetcar Named Desire & King Lear Souvenir Program New York The New York City Center Theatre Company 1955 Original Souvenir Program Oversize Paper Uncommon attractive duo souvenir program for two plays that were part of The New York City Centers All Star Winter Play Festival. The plays were revivials of Tennessee Williams's "A Streetcar Named Desire" that starred Tallulah Bankhead. "King Lear" the other play starred Orson Welles with Viveca Lindfors & Geraldine Fitzgerald. Welles also got production credit, and the score was by Marc Blitzstein. The program is divided in two, (partly upside down) with Welles getting 4pgs. and Bankhead with 8pgs. 2 of which contains an original piece? "Facts About Me" by Tennessee Williams. Illustrated with many photos. Light touch of wear to the top corner of the Welles cover and a light small bottom edge that is sun faded. The two covers are striking printed in black and red. Vg. Shakespeare, William/Olivier, Laurence Hamlet Souvenir Program & Two Books London/Hollywood Rank Two Cities/Universal Internation 1948 Original Program Large Paper A nice Hamlet-Olivier collection. Includes the somewhat uncommon 20pg. souvenir program for Laurence Olivier's Hamlet. The film was the big Oscar winner winning awards for Picture & Actor + several others. Illustrated with stills, photos and publicity material. Someone actually put a glass on the front cover so there is a very faint stain that is mirrored to the first few pages but happily does not really mar the book and a very tiny oval scrape which is also not that terrible. Vg Also included is a copy of "Hamlet , The Film And Play." Edited by Alan.Dent with Designs By Roger Furse. Published in 1948 by World Film Pub. Ltd.This is a hardcover book with dustjacket. This is a superb book that includes the complete text of the play + many of Olivier's directions from the film script. Includes 38 beautiful b&w stills & portraits from the film on plates + several drawings by Mr. Furse. The text is printed in red & black ink. The dj. has minute very shallow chipping to the top and bottom of the spine panel and the front and back panels. There is also a few tiny chips and old staple marks to the top edge of the front illustrated endsheet, half-title pg.,and title pg. There is also a touch of tonning to these same pages + the foreward pg. There are also a few staple marks to the last two pages in the back and a small tear to the top of the back endsheet. Bookplate on the front pastedown. Collection of clippings laid in. Vg/vg. Also included is a copy of the book "The Film Hamlet A Record Of Its Production" Edited by Brenda Cross. This is a hardcover book with dustjacket published by The Saturn Press in 1948. This is another nice book on the film with many essays by the people behind and in front of the camera. Illustrated with many photos, historical illustrations and candids. There is very minor and not noticeable thin slivers of damp staining which happily does not mar the book, and there is light wear chipping to the dustjacket. Vg/vg. Sold as a collection only. Price:

Mankiewicz. The high powered cast included Marlon Brando, John Gielgud & Deborah Kerr. The film received 5 Oscar nominations including one for picture and Brando. Nice full color covers. Fine. Also included is a small handbill for the film, a small photo of Mankiewicz directing Taylor, Burton & Harrison in Cleopatra, and a small 8pg. program for a series of films by Mankiewicz that was held at The Museum Of Modern Art in 1981. No Dustjacket INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY JULIE TAYMOR. Beautiful lavish screenplay for the Julie Taymor film based on the play by Shakespeare. Illustrated with 100's of nicely printed color stills, photos and candids along with Taymor's director notes. The large cast was led by Anthony Hopkins & Jessica Lange. Laid in the book is a nice foldover from the DVD release of the film. The front and back endsheets have a soft hardly noticeable printing imperfection due to the binding which is a light "line" down the center, and a few soft faint dents to the top edges of the endsheets this binding imperfection is lightly mirrored to the top edges of some of the pages, and is also hardly noticeable and might not even be noticed if not mentioned by me. In spite of this, the book is near fine in a fine dustjacket. Inscribed books by Ms. Taymor are uncommon. Price:
