The screenplay for Resnais's film about Stavisky a small time crook and swindler in the early 1930's who causes a great political scandal when a big time scam of his goes wrong. Illustrated with 78 b&w stills. Small crease to the top corner of the front cover which is lightly mirrored to a few of the 1st pgs. Vg.

The true first edition of this comedy with music by Stephen Sondheim that was adapted from the comedy by Aristophanes. Originally produced by the Yale Repertory Theatre it was revived in 2004 with Nathan Lane. Uncommon in this edition. Old price stamp on front cover, and very miute light soiling to the light yellow paper covers. Near fine.

New York Dodd Mead & Co. 1963 1st Edition Cloth with Dustjacket 
INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY STEPHEN SONDHEIM IN 1998. A very nice fine copy of the Tony Award winning musical that starred the great Zero Mostel as a Roman slave trying to win his freedom. The original production ran for 964 performances and was later filmed with Mostel in the lead along with Jack Gilford and the great Buster Keaton. Illustrated with 8pgs. of photos along with a 2pg. drawing of the cast by Hirschfeld. This was an early Sondheim show. The bright red dustjacket is fine except for sun fading to the spine panel, which is probably a common defect.

INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY STEPHEN SONDHEIM. Complex musical about Commodore Mathew Perry's 1853 expedition to Japan. Although it only ran for 193 performances during its original run, it received many Tony nominations and is a cult favorite among Sondheim fans. 18pgs. of photos + an Al Hirschfeld drawing opposite the title page. Inscribed copies of this title are scarce indeed. Minor soiling to the white back panel of the dustjacket. Fine/near fine. Laid in is a playbill for the recent smash revival of Gypsy that has Patti LuPone in the lead.

New York 1970 Programs 
Two rare souvenir programs for the landmark Stephen Sondheim musical "Company>" The 1st one is an original 20pgs. program with the original cast but later in the run. Illustrated with many photos. LAID IN IS AN INSCRIBED AND SIGNED 8" X 10" PORTRAIT OF STEPHEN SONDHEIM THAT WAS SIGNED IN 1984. . Band of light sunfading to the bottom and side edge, otherwise fine. The 2nd program is a 28pg. program for the concert of "Company" given as a benefit for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS in 1993. Hosted by Patti LuPone and featuring the original cast, 14 of which have signed the cover of this program including BARBARA BARRIE, DEAN JONES, DONNA McKECHNIE. Unfortunately Elaine Strich has not signed the program. Also included is a book club edition of the musical. Includes the lyrics. No photos. Small chipping to the top and bottom of the spine panel, small crease to the top of the dustjacket and minute soiling. Fine/vg. Also laid in is a nice full color announcement for recent revival that was to star Patti Lupone and katrina lenik that got waylaid because of the pandemic. Sold as a collection only.
